Super powered heroes rule and the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance video game for Gamecube, PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360 and Wii lets you control the greatest Marvel heroes and battle Dr.

September 4, 2009 - The house of Marvel has released some iconic characters in the past few decades, from Spider-Man and Iron Man to the X-Men and Captain America. With so many adored characters, Marvel Universe crossovers have been a regular occurrence and have been delighting fans for decades. However, no crossover has gotten fans as worked up as the recent Civil Wars series, which just so happens to be the inspiration for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, the much anticipated follow up to 2006's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

The basic gist of the Civil War series revolves around superhero registration legislation introduced by the government. On one side of the argument you have Iron Man (AKA Tony Stark), who is all for superhero registration and thinks that extraordinarily powerful humans need to be registered so they don't see themselves as 'above the law' and can't become a threat to others. Captain America, however, leads the other side and insists that heroes need to maintain their anonymity. Each of these leaders gains comrades, and what ensues is nothing short of - you guessed it - civil war.

We recently got to play through the first half hour or so of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, and I can confidently say that if you liked the first game, then you are going to love the second entry. The game starts off with the prologue to the Civil War crossover series, which fans may know as the Secret War. SHIELD boss man Nick Fury has uncovered a plot by several leading villains to attack the U.S. When the U.S. fails to give Fury its permission to perform a tactical strike on a popular enemy hideout spot, Latveria, he decides to round up the troops and take care of business anyway.

The levels themselves look very clean and polished, and there are plenty of elements with which to interact. Our party of four was only attacked by seven or eight enemies at a time, but we were assured that there would be more enemies later on in the game. On my first go-round, I was able to play through the beginning of the game as Iron Man, who thanks to his super-special suit, can pick up minivans and hurl them at large groups of enemies. However, although Iron Man is one of a very select few characters that can pick up large objects, this special power is balanced by Iron Man's slower reaction time and less impactful blows. The second time around, I played as Daredevil, who couldn't pick up huge cars, but had a quick attack rate and strong physical attacks.

The combat is very similar to that of the first game, and you'll be able to walk through expansive (but mostly linear) areas where enemies will approach your party, and you can dispatch them with a variety of physical and environmental attacks. These attacks are executed with fairly simple button presses, but as you level the character up, you can unlock combos and higher-powered attacks. In addition to the regular character attacks, your team will also be able to perform special group attacks that pairs two characters together and uses both of their power to unleash a devastating super-attack.

Another aspect of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 that is back from the original is its focus on teamwork. The game encourages you to play with a team of up to four heroes, whether locally or online. The multiplayer component of the game has been streamlined, however. As different characters level up, you can allocate their experience points via a sidebar menu instead of needing to exit the game altogether and holding up your party's progression.

As far as characters are concerned, there will be 24 playable characters in total, including plenty of old favorites like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Iron Man. There are also some new surprising characters that will be making an appearance in the game including Gambit, Ms. Marvel, and the Civil War exclusive character, Penance. It was also announced recently that Iceman will be available as well.

The original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance was an excellent crossover game and featured plenty of fun beat 'em up style gameplay. Although the core formula is still the same for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, it's just as enjoyable now as it was then. The addition of one of the most dramatic (not to mention controversial) story arcs in Marvel's history is a serious boon for this title, making it that much more of a must-buy for comic fans. Even if you have never experienced the Civil War storyline, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 will give you a great reason to jump in and see what all the fuss is about!

This is not +3 to damage for the hit; it means that it adds three dots in the Powers area. With this single item you can go from 129 Damage to 289 Damage. Character specific gear are thus very valuable.

    • Completing the Comic missions

To complete all the Comic missions easily and unlock Silver Surfer and get gold at the same time, wait and play all the missions at the end of the game when your characters have leveled up and have decent powers. If some are still to difficult to complete, do some Versus mode missions with those characters to level them up, or to pick up some Shield Tokens to add to their costume.
    • Daredevil

Go to a S.H.E.I.L.D. save zone and select 'Change Team'. Delete all selected characters by pressing X. Once all of your team slots are empty, press Left(2), Right(2), Up, Down, Up, Down, Start. A sound will confirm correct code entry. Note: This code may also be enabled at the main menu.
    • Defeating Bosses

Use Wolverine and have Lunge attack. It normally knocks down and opponent and slashes them, however because you are facing a Boss this will not happen. Keep using that attack and it will do more damage than melee attacks. It will not knock them back. When you run out of energy, the Boss should eventually produce some.
    • Easy experience and money

When lighting the candles in Mephisto's Realm, there is an area where you are meant to throw the demon jumpers into the fire to lower the pedestal. If you stand in by the edges of the level where the jumpers respawn, you can kill as many as desired. Try this as Spider-Man or any rapid fire projectile user. The enemies constantly drop money and energy refills. If one walks too far away, hopefully your teammates will chase after them and you can use the momentum move to wipe them out. Do this for easy experience and money.
    • Easy Scared of Heights and Widowmaker Achievements

Play the Galactus Boss battle. When he slams his fists and swipes at you, it does not hurt at all and you will get back up immediately. You are up on a ledge and his Punishers do not stop respawning. You can just grab and throw them off in either direction. To avoid being caught in his hand and button tapping, go on the left side of the screen on that corner.

    • Fourth alternate costume

Complete the Combat Training challenge for a character. Alternately, get a 'Bronze' rank in a character's Comic Mission to unlock his or her fourth costume.
    • Giant weapons

Note: This trick requires downloadable content with the new characters. When the Hulk gains Fury (the move that makes him bigger), use it and grab a weapon. Drop the weapon and pick it up again. It should be bigger. It will still function like a normal weapon. The only weapon with a size limit is the mace (about five times).
    • Gold Edition characters

Characters that require Xbox Live to be unlocked may also be obtained on Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Gold Edition. It includes characters such as Cyclops, Magneto, Hulk, Venom, Dr. Doom, Hawkeye, Nightcrawler, and Sabretooth. This is useful if you do not have Xbox Live.
    • Hard mode

Do not be afraid of the hard difficulty setting. When you start a game under hard mode, you can load your characters from a previously saved game. For example, if you have a level 50 Wolverine from normal mode, you can start the game with him and all his powers, gear, and costumes that you have gained. It also adds five more dots to level up your powers with. If you have one maxed out in normal mode, there is even more room for improvement.
    • Hard mode

Successfully complete the game under the normal difficulty setting.
    • Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

After the third level, go to Iron Man's lab and talk to Spider-Man. He will say 'The only thing that could make this worse is if Earth was blown up to make an intergalactic highway'.
    • Iron Man Comic mission

When you get to the end of the mission to battle Ultimo, run back to the door you came in. Ultimo is so big he cannot pass the edge of the room he is in. You can just sit back and hit him with your ranged attacks. Then when needed, fly in and collect the health and energy vials he drops.
    • Pass through locked doors

Have Deadpool on your team. When you find a door that does not give you the option 'Press X to open'. Sometimes you can use Deadpool to teleport through the door. Once through the door, just continue walking with Deadpool for awhile and your team will catch up with you. This also works on doors you would otherwise have to break. A notable time this does not work is in Murderworld (the doors that need the hammer and strength machine to open). It does however allow you to go one-on-one with Shocker and Rhino in the pinball machine. Your team does not pass through the door with you in this instance.
    • Recommended team

Use the following trick to make a hard to kill team. Make a team consisting of Wolverine, Blade, Ghost Rider, and Luke Cage (the Bad To the Bone team). The team bonus will be that 5% of all damage will regained as health. Also, all these characters have a way to regenerate health. Equip he following outfits. For Wolverine, Astonishing, Max Out Health Regen and Defense. For Blade, Ultimate, Max Out Health Regen and Defense. For Luke Cage, New Avengers, Max out Health Regen and Defense. For Ghost Rider, Original, Max out Resurrect Ally and Defense. It is also recommended that Ghost Rider be equipped with The Heart of Mephisto (10% of attack damage turned into health) or a similar item because he is the only character without a Health Regen. Equip other characters with gear that increases defense or dodging capabilities. Not only will your team be difficult to hurt, but they will be absorbing and regenerating most of the damage they take. If a teammate dies, Ghost Rider will have a 50% chance of resurrecting them. Note that Ghost Rider is the weak point. He does not regenerate, and if he dies resurrection is lost. Also, Wolverine will regenerate the fastest because he has an inherit ability to regenerate in addition to the suit's bonus.
For easy money, health, energy, Extreme Momentum Orbs, and experience for leveling. make a team consisting of Luke Cage, Elektra, and Dr. Strange. When they each have a full Momentum bar, get a group of enemies around you. Then, use the power. Elektra will stun all enemies with her Curse of the Hand. Then Dr. Strange uses his Mystic Maelstrom to kill all stunned enemies, causing them to drop Extreme Momentum Orbs for each enemy killed. Then, Luke Cage uses his Sweet Christmas to kill any of the remaining enemies, giving you +472% more money for each enemy killed in the attack sequence. This trick is especially useful for leveling characters, unlocking costumes, and maxing out stats. The best place to do this is in the Shield training simulator on the Thunderball mission. Even if you run out of time you will still get the levels and money; do not worry about killing the Boss. Just get your momentum on Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, and Elektra.
    • Restore ability to unlock achievements

Some achievements cannot be unlocked after certain cheat codes are activated. Use the following trick to get those achievement points available to you again. Make a new profile on your Xbox 360 then start a new game. This profile has no saved content and therefore will not have cheats on it. After starting a new game, sign in the profile that has been locked from achievements and join in. You will now be able to start from the beginning and play with your default profile. If you are alone, just have two controllers. From here, simply play until you get to an extraction point. Save with your blocked profile. Start a new game with your previously blocked profile. You can now start over.
    • Second and third alternate costumes

Gain between two and four levels with a character. Alternately, defeat 30 enemies with a character to unlock his or her second costume. Defeat 175 enemies with a character to unlock his or her second costume.Marvel ultimate alliance 3 xbox

    Marvel Ultimate Alliance Cheats 360

During the missions is Asgard you may talk to Weasle after completing one of the two missions available. Weasle will be in the Hall of Heroes. After he talks to you, talk to him by pressing X. When you ask him about the Ex mansion, the subtitle reads 'Makes me wish I was a mutant. They've got everything here - tennis courts, a pool, and a subbasement full of hi-tech gear' however the voice artist clearly says 'They've got everything there', which would be the correct way to say it.
